John Veencamp passed away early Sunday morning after a long illness. He had reached the age of 80 years, 11 months and 10 days.

He was born in South Holland, Illinois. Both of his parents died when he was still very young. He came to Sioux County and lived in Sioux Center. He worked at the Schoemann and the Farmers Coop lumber yards for approximately forty years.

Mr. Veencamp was united in marriage to Kate Lagendyk Jan. 20, 1892. Mrs. Veencamp passed away three years ago. The past 16 years they lived in the Holland Home at Sheldon, Iowa.

He is survived by two children, a daughter, Mrs. Dick Van Allen of Grand Rapids, Mich., and a son Paul Veencamp of Sioux Center, Iowa. A daughter, Mrs. Cora Brower, died in 1934. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren and three sisters.
