Fannie Van Zanten, 96, of Rock Valley died Thursday, July 15, at Valley Manor in Rock Valley.

Services were at 10:30am Saturday at First Christian Reformed Church in Rock Valley with the Rev. C. Eric Fennema officiating. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery.

Mrs. Van Zanten was born August 15, 1902 in Nijverdal, The Netherlands, the daughter of Johannes and Fenneke (Geerling) Zwiers. She moved with her family to the United States when she was 10 years old. The family settled in the Lebanon area. She married Tony Van Zanten on January 26, 1927, in Lebanon. The couple farmed near Lebanon for two years before farming near Rock Valley. They moved into Rock Valley in 1958. He died December 11, 1970. She entered the Valley Manor in February 1999.

She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, tatting and playing table games.

Survivors include five sons and their wives, Cornie and Wilma, John and Mary and Albert and Harriet, all of Rock Valley. Vernon and Geneva of Pella and The Rev. Anthony and Donna of Chicago, Illinois; a daughter and her husband, Albertha and Dick Moorlag of Loveland, Colorado; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, three brothers and five grandchildren.
