Hendrina Johanna Van Oort, 91, Park Rapids, Minnesota, died Wednesday, November , 26, at Heritage Living Center in Park Rapids, Minnesota.
Services were held Tuesday, December 2, at Assembly of God Church in Park Rapids, with Pastor Art Wood officiating. Burial was at Hubbard Cemetery in Hubbard, Minnesota, under the direction of Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids.

Hendrina Van Oort, daughter of Gerrit and Ida (Ver Steeg) Van Marel, was born June 11, 1912, in Holland Township of Sioux County. She attended public schools in the same area. As a young woman, she gained employment with the local telephone company in Orange City. Her life was blessed with a son, Daniel. Later she worked for a mink farm near Orange City for many years. She was an excellent seamstress and worked for a number of years at a garment factory in Sheldon.

She married Herman Van Oort on June 27, 1959, in O’Brian County. Shortly thereafter they moved to Park Rapids, Minnesota, where they established the Smoky Ranch Christian Camp north of town, where they ministered to families until Mr. Van Oort’s death in 1980. For a number of years she worked as a seamstress at Ringer Clothing Factory in Park Rapids and did custom sewing and mending for others. She loved the out of doors and especially enjoyed animals. She was a faithful member of the assembly of God Church in Park Rapids, Minnesota, for many years. She had a strong faith in the Lord and sought to bring him glory in all she did.

Survivors include a son, Danial and Pam Jager of Nisswa, Minnesota; two grandsons; three stepchildren, Homer and June Van Oort of Garner, LaVonne and Marvin Hanson of Kansas City, Missouri, and Larry and Pat Van Oort of Cedar Falls; a stepdaughter-in-law, Dolores Van Oort of Des Moines; and her special friend and helper, Pat Olson and family of Osage, Minnesota.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Van Oort; three stepsons, Dwayne Van Oort, Roger Van Oort and Cornie Van Oort; three brothers, Acie Van Marel, George Van Marel and Nick Van Marel; and a sister, Edith.
