Arthur E. Davis

Arthur E. Davis, 88, of Hawarden, IA died on Saturday February 11,1989, at the Hawarden Hospital.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at First Baptist Church in Hawarden, with the Reverend Harley Betzolt officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery under the direction of the Dow Funeral Home.

Mr. Davis was born March 26,1900 at Hudson, SD and moved to Page, NE with his family as a child. He moved to Lincoln, NE as a young man, where he worked on the state capitol building. He later was employed at Gooch's Flour Mill in Lincoln. On June 28, 1927 he married Ethel Cameron at Lincoln. The couple lived on a farm near Lynch, NE and moved to a farm near Hawarden, in 1938, where they lived the last 45 years.

Mr. Davis was an avid gardener. He was a member of first Baptist Church of Hawarden.

Survivors are his wife; four daughters, Mrs. Dean (Jean) White, Mrs. Wilbur (Yvonne) Hartman and Mrs. Harold (Ana) Vander Schoor, all of Hawarden, and Mrs. Stanley (Jane) Venard of Waukee; a son, Cameron Davis of Hawarden; two brothers, Roy of Niobrara, NE and Bill of San Marcos, CA; one sister, Florence Griffith of Helena, MT; 15 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three grandchildren.
