Myrtle Brower

Myrtle Brouwer, 83, of Boyden died Thursday, June 11 at Lutheran Nursing Home in Sioux Falls, S.D. following a long illness.

Services were 10:30 Saturday at Vogelaar-Bolin Funeral Home in George. Pastor Ray Willemssen officiated. Burial was in Sheriden Township Cemetery, Boyden.

Mrs. Brouwer, the former Myrtle De Valois, was born October 23, 1903 in rural Boyden. She attended Boyden schools and the Orange City Academy. She taught school at the Sunshine Bible Academy at Miller, S.D. She married William Brouwer on July 6, 1933. He died in 1963. She worked for Douglas County as a social worker before retiring to Denver, Colo. She was a resident of the Lutheran Manor since November of 1986.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Delbert (Margery) Kanengieter of Sioux Falls and Mrs. Loy (Mary) Oaker of Denver, Colo.; two brothers, Jack of Holland, Mich. and Reuben of Orange City; a sister, Mrs. Nellie Van't Hoff of Jenison, Mich.; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
