From the Sioux Center News, April 2, 1980:

Mrs. John Dokter, 83, Boyden, died Wednesday, March 26, at the Rock Valley hospital.

Services were at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the First Reformed Church in Boyden. The Rev. Sylvester Moths officiated. Burial was in the Middleburg Cemetery, rural Orange City, under the direction of the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.

Mrs. Dokter, the former Grace Koerselman, was born April 4, 1896 at Alton. She moved to Middleburg as a child.

She was married January 6, 1916 near Middleburg. The couple farmed near Middleburg until retiring to Boyden.

Mr. Dokter died December 2, 1974.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Marvin (Gertrude) Van Gorp of Hospers, Mrs. Arie (Gerdena) Bomgaars of Hull and Mrs. Jake J. (Jeanette) Vander Griend of Orange City; a son, Gary of Boyden; two brothers, Gerrit of Sioux Center and Dick of Boyden; 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
