Mrs. Susan Martin

Mrs. Susan Martin, of Alton died Sunday evening at Sioux Valley Memorial hospital in Cherokee following a brief illness. Susan Even was born March 26, 1875, a t St. Donatus in Jackson county, the daughter of Mathias and Anna Hentgen Even. She was married Jan. 11, 1899, to Nicholas Martin in St. Mary's church, Alton, of which she was a member and of its Rosary society.

Surviving is one son, Loyal Martin, lawyer at Cherokee, and two grandchildren, Mark and Claudia. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Nicholas in November, 1953, six brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m.. Wednesday at St. Mary's church Alton, with Father Norbert Boes celebrant of requiem high mass. The body was brought to Alton Tuesday where rosary was recited at 3 p.m. by the Rosary society and a t 8 p.m. by the parish Greenwood Funeral Home of Cherokee was in charge of arrangements. Burial was at St. Mary's cemetery.
