Rites Held For Klaude Dick of Wyoming, Iowa

Funeral services for Klaude Dick of Wyoming, Iowa, who died following a heart attack Friday, June 15, were held the following Monday in the Methodist church of that place with Rev. H. A. Sommerville officiating. Burial was in the Wyoming cemetery which joins the Dick farm.

Mr. Dick, a former Hawarden resident, was stricken with the heart attack while he, assisted by neighbor boys, was building fence. he died almost immediately after he suffered the attack.

Mr. Dick, second child of Martha and David S. Dick, was born near Huron, S. D. June 15, 1887.

He came to Hawarden as a young child and graduated from high school with the class of 1908. This same year he filed a claim near Sturgis, S.D.

He was a graduate of General Beadle State Normal of Madison, S.D., later attending Iowa State college and the University of Iowa. From 20 years he taught in the schools of Iowa and South Dakota. Until the last few years he farmed near Wyoming, Iowa.

He was a past member of the Masonic lodge, a member of the Consistory, past patron of the O.E.S. and a member of the Shrine at Cedar Rapids. He had been an active member of the Methodist church, serving as a trustee and teaching the young married people's class to the time of his death.

Survivors include his widow and daughter, Mrs. Joe Cathy, one granddaughter, Dickey Jo. Cathy; two brothers, Dr. Louis C. Dick of Spencer, S.D., Robert Dick of West Grange, N.J.; two sisters, Mrs. Oscar Norberg of Hawarden and Mrs. C.E. Anderson of Alcester.

(Volunteer note: S.D. birth records indicate that Mr. Dick's mother's maiden name was Martha Louisa Feige.)
