Funeral Services for Henry J. Torwelle Held at Ireton June 18,1934

Henry J. Torwelle, a lifelong resident of this vicinity, passed away at the Hawarden hospital last Friday evening. He died following an operation for the amputation of his leg. He had been ill for about two months, suffering from sarcoma of the bone. He had been in the hospital for two weeks, but had recovered sufficiently to be moved to the home of Mrs. Torwelle's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Anderson, on June 10. On June 14 the leg was broken, and he was again taken to the hospital where the operation was performed.

Henry J. Torwelle was born near Ireton, Iowa on January 19, 1890. He spent most of his life in this vicinity. He was married on January 21, 1921, to Miss Irene Anderson, and to this union a daughter was born.

He is survived by his widow; one daughter, Edna Pauline; his mother, Mrs. Henrietta Torwelle of Ireton; two brothers, William and Carl of Ireton; and two sisters, Mrs. Walter Hoogland of Rock Rapids, Iowa, and Mrs. Robert Greigg of Ireton. Two brothers and one sister passed away a few years ago. His father proceeded him in death in 1927.
Funeral services were held Monday from the Lutheran church at Irelon, with Rev. H. Krieger in charge. Interment was made in the Ireton cemetery.
