Adrian Vander Lugt, who resides in the west part of Hawarden, passed away at the Oelrich Hospital in Sioux Center at 1:10 Monday morning from heart trouble. Mr. Vander Lugt had been ill for two weeks and Sunday was removed to the hospital where he passed away the following morning.

Funeral services were held at the home at 1:30 Wednesday afternoon and at the Christian Reformed Church at two o'clock with Rev. A. Folkema in charge. Interment was made in Grace Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Vander Lugt was born in Holland, May 27, 1876, and passed away at Sioux Center, June 29, 1942, having attained the age of 66 years, 1 month and 2 days. He came to America in 1907 and was employed by his uncle Tunis Vander Lugt, who resided 12 miles northeast of Hawarden. He was united in marriage with Miss Bertha Van Duyn at Lebanon in 1908. After his marriage he continued to live northeast of Hawarden for a time. Later he moved to Colton, SD, and then to Pease, Minn. He then returned to this vicinity and farmed for a few years. The family then went to Rock Valley where he worked in a bakery. About six years ago he retired and moved to Sioux Center but he returned to Hawarden last August.

Six children were born to Mr. & Mrs. Vander Lugt, two of whom died in infancy. Besides his wife he is survived by four children. They are Gertrude and Elizabeth of Chicago, Wilhelmina at home and Gerrit, who is in the army at Camp Browder, Wyo. Mrs. Gerrit Vander Lugt lives in Chicago at present. All of his children were here for the funeral. He also leaves to mourn his passing two sisters, and three brothers: R. Vander Lugt and Mrs. Van Zante of The Netherlands, T. Vander Lugt of Grand Rapids, Mich; L. Vander Lugt of Moline, Ill., and Mrs. J. W. Van Dyke of Highland, Ind.
