Peter Vander Lugt, 49, former Hawarden resident, died unexpectedly from a heart attack while at work at the Chicago Steel Mills Tuesday, Septembr 9.
Funeral services were held at the chapel of the Bos Funeral Home at 1 o'clock Friday, September 12, Rev. G. Hoeksema officiating. Interment was in Evergreen cemetery in Chicago.
Mr. Vander Lugt lived in this community as a child, having attended the rural schools and Hawarden High School two years. He graduated from the Sioux Center High School.
He lived near Hawarden until moving to Chicago in 1934, where he was a member of Third Roseland Christian Reformed Church.
In May, 1941, he married Miss Rose Jolman of Grand Rapids, Michigan. The couple had no children.
His parents Mr. & Mrs. Wm. Vander Lugt and one brother, Leonard, preceded him in death.
He is survived by the widow and eight brothers and sisters, Gerrit, Dick & Neal Vander Lugt, Mrs. Peter J. Daale and Mrs. Adrian Dekkers, all of Hawarden, Mrs. John Kooi of Ireton, Mrs. Walter Swier of Colton, SD, all of whom attended the funeral and a sister, Nellie, of Grand Rapids.
