Henry Timmer, 95, of Sioux Center, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2004, at the Sioux Center Community Nursing Facility. Funeral services were held Jan. 6, at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center, with the Rev. John Riggle officiating. Interment followed in Grace Hill Cemetery of Hawarden.

Henry Timmer was born near Hudson, on July 17, 1908, the son of Dick & Gertrude (Haarsma) Timmer. Hank was raised and attended country school near Chatsworth. As a young man he worked for area farmers.

On Sept. 1, 1934, he was united in marriage to Fern Marie Van Buskirk at Elk Point. Following their marriage Hank & Fern first lived near Hawarden where Hank farmed for nearly 25 years. They farmed near Onawa for three years before moving to a farm near Hinton. After retiring, Hank & Fern moved to Franken Manor in Sioux Center in July of 1977. Mrs. Timmer died on Nov. 19, 1985.

Hank was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church while living near Hawarden and Peace Lutheran Church and Hope Lutheran Church while in Sioux Center.

Survivors include his six children: Marlowe Timmer of Schaller, IA; Myrna Stading of Anthon; Bernice Masquat of Sioux Center; Norma McNaughton of Tampa, FL; Rhonda DeBoer of Sioux City and Shirley Bowman of Sioux City; 15 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, and one sister, Harriet Newman of Ft. Dodge.

He was preceded in death by his wife, son Gerald Timmer and infant son, Raymond Timmer; three brothers, Albert, Dick, John Timmer, and four sisters, Jennie Beck, Clara Shannon, Frankie Harmelink and Alberta Altena.
