Sioux Center News, April 23, 1953

Funeral service are to be held this (Thursday) afternoon at Boyden and Orange City for Evert Te Paske, who died Sunday, April 19, at the age of 91 years, 9 months.

Memorial rites will be conducted at the John Hoekstra home at Boyden at 12:45 P.M., and at 1:30 o'clock at First Ref. Church in Orange City. Dr. H. Colenbrander will preside.

Born at Aalten, The Netherlands, July 15, 1861, Evert Te Paske was a son of Mr. & Mrs. A. J. Te Paske. He came to America at the age of 21 with friends for whom he had worked as a youth.

After living for a short time near Greenleafton, Minn., he moved to Orange City and was married to Aaltje Wester. A daughter, now Mrs. John Lubbers, was born to the couple before Mrs. Te Paske's death two years later.

Mr. Te Paske married a second time on February 3, 1887, to Elisabeth Lammers who at that time was employed by Rev. S. Bolks, one of Orange City's early ministers. Ten children were born to the union, four of whom died in infancy.

Surviving sons and daughters are: Rev. Arend J. Te Paske of Sterling, IL; Mrs. Sarah Van Zee, Orange City; Mrs. Francis Visser, Grand Rapids; John Te Paske, Archer; Leo H. Te Paske, Grand Rapids and Mrs. Eva Elizabeth Hoekstra, Boyden. Also remaining are 29 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Mr. Te Paske was a member of the First Reformed Church in Orange City for 71 years.
