James Heynen

April 12, 1915—August 26, 1995 James Heynen, 80, of Hull died Saturday, August 26, at the Merrill Pioneer Community Hospital in Rock Rapids. Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 29, at First Christian Reformed Church In Hull, with the Rev. Roger Bouwman officiating. Interment followed in Hope Cemetery in Hull.

Heynen was born April 12, 1915, in Inwood, the son of Henry and Cora (Brink) Heynen. He was raised mostly in South Dakota and Iowa, graduating from Northwestern Academy in Orange City. He married Freda Engbers August 11. 1938, in Orange City. They served on the consistory as an elder, had been superintendent of the Sunday school and had been a Cadet counselor. He did much volunteer work through Justice for All, Habitat for Humanity and the Alpha Center.

Survivors include his three children and their spouses, Helen and Peter Soodsma of Doon, George and Nancy Heynen of Hull and Edith and Lane Bonnema of Sioux Falls; two brothers, Henry of Orange City and the Rev. William of Prescott, Arizona; 15 grandchildren; and eight greatgrandchildren. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Albert, Ralph and Tony, and his sister, Grada Waanders.
