Leo W. Dougherty, 77, of Ireton died Monday, Oct. 17,1983, in the Hawarden hospital. Services were at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, in the Dow Funeral Home in Ireton. The Rev. Marion Bloodworth officiated. Burial was in Pleasant Hill
Cemetery. Pallbearers were Steven Vogelaar, Rick Vogelaar, Bruce Tapp, Mike Dougherty, John Dougherty and David Dougherty.

Mr. Dougherty was born Mar. 22,1906, near Marcus. He married Lula Matheson Feb. 1, 1930, in Montevideo, MN. They lived in the Primghar area, moving to Sheldon in 1944. They moved to Milford in 1974 and to Ireton in January of 1983. He was a construction worker.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Doris Vogelaar of Sheldon, Mrs. Russ (Faye) DeVoss of Ireton and Mrs. Merlin (Jolene) Tapp of Bountiful, UT; one son, Donald of Mishawaka, IN; one sister, Jennie Schmidt of Minneota, MN; 14 grandchildren and 12 greatgrandchildren.
