Sioux Center News, January 8, 1959

Funeral services were held Friday, January 2, from the First Reformed church of Hull for Mrs. Richard Ten Braak, 30, who passed away December 29 following a brain hemorrhage.

She had suffered a similar attack in October, 1958, and was confined to the St. Joseph hospital in Sioux City for several weeks, but was recuperating at her home when she suffered another attack. She died enroute to the hospital.

Mrs. Ten Braak was born Esther Nelvina Gunnink, November 26, 1928 at Hull. She was a graduated of Hull high school, and was at one time employed with the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Storm Lake and later as secretary for the Hymans Construction Company of Hull. She married Richard Ten Braak of Doon, February 20, 1952 and two children were born to them: Laura Sue, 4 and Dale Richard, 3 months.

Surviving besides her husband and children are her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Wm. Gunnink; five brothers, Richard of Hull; Harry of Sioux City; Elwin of Blairsburg, IA; Frank of Sioux City and Norman of Hull. Also one sister, Mrs. Conway R. Hoffman of Haywood, Calif.
