Elmer (Al) Vande Mheen, 68, of Tucson, Ariz., died June 15, 1993. He is survived by his wife, Emily. She is the former Emily Wright of Lake Andes. They would have been married 43 years on Oct. l.

He is also survived by his children, Roger (Maureen) of Arizona, and Lori (Ron) Mixon of Florida; grandchildren, Scott and J.D. of Florida, Gerrit and Summer of Arizona; a brother, Gilbert of Nebraska; and sisters, Dorothy Lucas of Iowa and Leona Telcamp of South Dakota.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Gerrit & Gertrude, and brother, Richard.

Elmer was born in Alton, Iowa on June 2, 1925. After completing high school, he was employed by Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. He moved to Tucson in 1959 and was contractor sales and serviceman at Duval Mine for Goodyear. He retired in 1987 after 40 years of service. He was an avid golfer and bowler.

Services will be held in Lake Andes, SD, at Clements-Wiese Funeral Home on July 1 at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Lake View Cemetery.
