Jake Van Noort, 67, of Hawarden died Wednesday, February 20, in a Sioux City hospital after a long illness. Services were at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 22, in the Community Reformed Church in Hawarden. The Rev. Ralph Van Rheenen officiated. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery. A prayer service was at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21 in the Dow Funeral Home.

Mr. Van Noort was born Feb. 10, 1918, in Rock Valley. He married Elsie Van Woudenberg Jan. 22, 1940, at Inwood. He was a lifelong area farmer. He was a member of the Community Reformed Church and a past member of its' consistory. He taught catechism and was a member of the Men’s Brotherhood.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Richard of Fairview, S.D. and Allen of Hawarden; one daughter, Mrs. Delbert (Betty Jo) Zwart of Hawarden; four brothers, Bill of Piedmont, S.D., Bernard and Marven, both of Sioux Falls, S.D.and Gerrit of Hawarden; five sisters, Mrs. Walter (Nancy) De Boer and Mrs. John (Doris) De Bruin, both of Hawarden, Mrs. Eldon (Clara) Bruisma of Stickney, S.D., Mrs. Birk (Anna Marie) Overweg of Mount Vernon, S.D. and Mrs. Lawrence (Agnes) Wulf of Beresford, S.D., and nine grandchildren
