Leonard Van Noort

Leonard Van Noort, 79, of Rock Valley died suddenly Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1993, at Hegg Memorial Hospital in Rock Valley. Services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Calvin Christian Reformed Church of Rock Valley with the Rev. Roger Sparks officiating. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Van Noort was born Oct. 21, 1913, in Rock Valley, the son of Jake and Meike (Van Kekerix) Van Noort. He married Fannie De Vries Dec. 9, 1939, in Jackson, MN. The couple lived in Rock Valley where he and his brother, Gilbert, owned and operated the Van Noort Tractor Salvage Co.

Mr. Van Noort was a member and past Consistory member of the Calvin Christian Reformed Church. He served in the US. Army during World War II from 1943 to 1946 and was a past member of the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife; two sons and their wives, Paul and Nancy of Rock Valley and Peter and Gelene of Sioux Falls, SD; a daughter and her husband, Mary and Warren Stein of Whitewood, SD; a brother, Gilbert of Rock Valley; a sister, Mrs. Nancy Van Beek of Rock Valley; and eight grandchildren
