Sioux County Capital of Nov. 5, 1998

Jeanette Oldenkamp, 86, of Orange City, died Monday, Nov. 2, 1998 at the Long Term Care Facility of the Orange City Hospital. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Nov. 5 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. David Landegent and the Rev. David Sterk will officiate. Burial will follow at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City lender the direction of the Oolman Funeral Home, Orange City.

Jeanette was born July 2, 1912 at Hospers, the daughter of Aart and Annie (Van Kley) Vanden Brink. She was raised in the Hospers area. On Jan. 8,1931 she married Alexander Oldenkamp at Hospers. They farmed in the Orange City area until 1962 when they moved into Orange City. Mrs. Oldenkamp was then a cook at the Maurice-Orange City Elementary School.

In 1965 her husband became the custodian of the First Reformed Church and she assisted him until they retired in 1977. In February of 1992 they became residents of the Pioneer Memorial Home in Orange City. In November of the same year Jeanette transferred to the Long Term Care Facility and Sam joined her there a month later. He died Nov. 4, 1997 in Orange City.

Mrs. Oldenkamp was a member of the First Reformed Church. Survivors include a daughter Gladys and her husband Cornelius "Casey" Korver of Orange City; two sons and their wives, Herman and Grace Oldenkamp of Orange City and Kenneth and Mary Oldenkamp of Alton; 10 grandchidren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one stepgreatgrandson.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lisa Korver; a great-granddaughter, Kami Jo Korver; five sisters, Winnie Vanden Hul, Gertrude Brink, Grace Elshuis, Annie Osberg and Dora Vanden Brink; and three brothers, Arie and Arthur Vanden Brink and an infant brother.
