Henrietta Kiel, age 93, of Sanborn, Iowa, formerly of Sheldon, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, January 17, 2008, at Prairie View Home in Sanborn.
Memorial services will be Saturday, January 26, 2008, at 11:00 A.M. at the First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon. Rev. Greg Timmer officiating. Graveside Service at 10:15 A.M. Saturday, January 26, prior to the Memorial Service, at East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon.
Visitation will be Friday, January 25, 2008, from 1:00 to 6:00 P.M. with the family present from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. at the Andringa Funeral Home Sheldon Funeral Service in Sheldon.

Henrietta Kiel was born on April 10, 1914, in Sioux Center, Iowa. She was the daughter of Steven and Anne (Heynan) Hulstein. She lived her youth in Sioux Center, where she attended the Christian Grade School and Western Christian High School in Hull, Iowa. She attended college in Valparaiso, Indiana.

She was united in marriage to Steve Kiel of Maurice, Iowa, on September 3, 1940, in Sioux Center, Iowa. They lived in Orange City, Iowa, for 4 years and then in Sioux Center, for 20 years, where they farmed and Henrietta taught elementary education. They moved to Artesia, California, where they lived for 20 years and Henrietta taught special education. In 1982, they retired and moved to Sheldon, Iowa. Steve passed away on May 21, 2001.

Henrietta was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon, where she was active when she was able. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and entertaining. She also enjoyed oil painting landscapes and still life, and playing the organ. Steve and Henrietta enjoyed traveling in their motor home and their family was very important to them.

Henrietta passed away on Thursday, January 17, 2008, at Prairie View Home in Sanborn, Iowa.
Those left to cherish her memories are three daughters and sons-in-law: Ruth Elaine Kiel of Sheldon, IA; Donna and Joe Vanden Berg of Cerritos, CA, Marianne and Chuck Lautenbach of Seattle, WA; one daughter-in-law: Sheryl Kiel of Chino, CA; ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Steve; son: Sylvan Kiel; 3 brothers: Tony Hulstein, Neal Hulstein, Steven Hulstein; 4 sisters: Grace Granstra, Reka Borst, Wilhelmina Punt, Johanna Freeman.
