Dena Roetman, 94, of Sheldon died Wednesday, May 22, at the Oak Park Care Center in Sheldon. The funeral service was held Saturday at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Boyden. The Rev. Phillip Sneller officiated. Interment followed at the Sheridan Township Cemetery at Boyden.

Mrs. Roetman was born March 7, 1902, at Sheldon, the daughter of Gerrit and Johanna (Te Grotenhuis) Kleinwolterink. She was raised at Sheldon where she attended country school. After her father died, she cared for her mother until she died in 1936.

On Dec. 30, 1942, she married Gerrit Roetman at Sheldon. They first farmed at Sheldon. In the early 1950s, they moved to a farm by Boyden. They retired into Boyden in the early 1970s. Her husband died Dec. 21, 1977, at Sioux City. In 1978, she became a resident of the Christian Retirement Home in Sheldon. In 1982, she transferred to Oak Park. She was a member of the First Reformed Church of Boyden.

Survivors include two sistersinlaw, Mrs. Sam (Anna) Kleinwolterink and Mrs. Amos (Johanna) Roetman, both of Sheldon, and nephews and nieces. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by eight brothers, John, Edward, Joe, Henry, Cornie, Bill, Sam and Ben Kleinwolterink. Memorials are being directed to the Oak Park Care Center.
