Jeanette Stienstra, 76, of Orange City died Wednesday, January 1, at her residence. A memorial service was Monday at 10:30 a,m. at Immanuel Christian Reformed Church in Orange City with the Rev. David Heilman and the Rev. Jeffrey Sajdak officiating. Interment was at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City.

Mrs. Stienstra was born November 24, 1926, in rural Hull, the daughter of Ed and Henrietta (Vis) Dykstra. She was raised at Perkins. On June 10, 1948, she married Charles Stienstra at Hull. They made their home in Hull, where she was a homemaker. In 1986, they moved to Holland, Michigan, and in 1994, they moved to Orange City. Her husband died November 15, 1997, in Orange City.

She was a member of the Immanuel Christian Reformed Church and the American Legion Auxiliary, and she served as a volunteer at the Alpha Center in Sioux Falls. She was very fond of her grandchildren, was an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing games, especially crossword puzzles.

Survivors include her six children, Donna and her husband Tom Strikwerda of Kensington, Maryland, Jeri Vander Vegte of Bloomington, Minnesota, Pete and Aletha Stienstra of Hull, Steve and Pam Stienstra of Orange City, Rachel and Wayne Rosters of Prior Lake, Minnesota, and Rebecca and Barry Wassink of Holland, Michigan; 13 grandchildren ; two sisters, Gertrude Brummel of Rock Valley and Stella Hoekstra and her husband Martin of Sheldon; three brothers and their wives, Dick and Anne Dykstra and Arthur and Eldoris Dykstra, all of Hull, and Harry and Lori Dykstra of Canton, South Dakota; and two sisters-inlaw, Jennie Dykstra of Rock Valley and Grace Dykstra of Hull.

She was also preceded in death by three siblings as adults, Herman, Peter and Ena, and three as youths, Ina, Harriet and Joe; a brother-inlaw, Al Brummel; and a sister-inlaw, Mrs. Dick (Grace) Dykstra. Memorials are being directed to the Alpha Center in Sioux Falls.
