SAM MIEDEMA.
Funeral services were held at the First Christian Reformed church at Rock Valley Saturday, March 4, for Sam Miedema, 75, retired farmer of Fairview, S. B., a former resident of Rock Valley community, who died at his home in Fairview Friday. Services were conducted by the Rev. Leonard Van Drienen and burial was made in the Valley View cemetery of Rock Valley under the direction of Co-operative Funeral home of Sioux Center.

Mr. Miedema was born in The Netherlands January 27, 1892. At the age of 19 he came to the U.S. with his parents. He was united in marriage to Alice Dekker of Orange City January 30, 1928 and farmed near Rock Valley until moving into Fairview in 1942.

He is survived by his wife, Alice, of Fairview; six children, Frieda (Mrs. Peter Kortlever) of Orange City, John of the Armed Forces, Dorothy (Mrs. Raymond Van Wyhe) of Hawarden, Charles of Sioux Center, Clarence of Sioux Falls, and Hilda (Mrs. Daryl Kratochvil) of Hawarden; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Henry Halma of Inwood and Mrs. Gerrit Harmelink of Rock Valley. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
