OBITUARIES - David Palsma.
David Palsma, 75, of Alton died suddenly Monday, September 4, at the Orange City hospital. Services were at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 7, at Reformed Church of Alton with the Rev. Raymond Tilstra and the Rev. Robert Vander Schaaf officiating. Burial was in Nassau Township Cemetery.

Palsma was born February 27, 1914, in Springfield, South Dakota. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He married Dena Aberson August 16, 1943. The couple farmed south of Alton until 1976 when they retired and moved into town. He was a member of Reformed Church where he had served on the Consistory as a deacon and elder. He was a member of Floyd Post 200, American Legion.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Mark of Orange City, Paul and Lee of Alton and Nolan of Wayne, New Jersey; three daughters, Jean Foreman of Fremont, Nebraska, Lois Van Roekel of Hudson and Deanne Den Herder of Sioux Center, three brothers, Andrew of Tyndall, South Dakota, John of Springfield, South Dakota, and Bert of Avon, South Dakota; two sisters, Hilda Los of Delavan, Wisconsin, and Alvina Wynia of Tyndall; and 17 grandchildren.

Mr. Pavid Palsma, age 75, of Alton, passed away Monday, September 4, on arrival at the
Orange City Municipal Hospital. Funeral services were held Thursday September 7, at the Reformed Church of Alton, with the Revs. Raymond Tilstra and Robert Vander Schaaf officiating. Interment followed at Nassau Township Cemetery at Alton, under the direction of -the VanEtten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home of Orange City.

David was born February 27, 1914, at Springfield, South Dakota, the son of Arthur Palsma and Winnie Rienstra Palsma. He entered the United States Army in March of 1941, serving in the European theatre during World War II. He was discharged in October of 1945. On August 16, 1943, he married Dena Aberson. They farmed south of Alton until 1976, when they retired into town. He was a member of the Reformed Church, having served on the consistory as a deacon and an elder. He also belonged to Floyd Post 200 of the American Legion in Alton.

Survivors include his wife; seven children, Jean and Lee Foreman, of Freemont, Nebr.; Mark and Cheryl Palsma, of Orange City; Paul and Lisa Palsma, and Lee and Charlene Palsma, all of Alton; Nolan and Phyllis Palsma, of Wayne, New Jersey; Lois and Kent Van Roekel, of Hudson, Iowa; and Deanne and Gary Den Herder, of Sioux Center; seventeen grandchildren, three brothers, Andrew, of Tyndall, South Dakota; John, of Springfield; and Bert, of Avon, South Dakota; and two sisters, Hilda Los, of Delavan, Wisconsin, and Alvina Wynia, of Tyndall. He was preceded in death by a brother, Allen, who was killed during World War II. Memorials are being directed to Bethany Christian Services or the Church organ fund.
