OBITUARIES – Esther Boone.
Esther Boone, 82, of Sheldon passed away Tuesday, April 25, 1995 at the Marion Health Center in Sioux City, Iowa. Funeral services were held on Friday, April 28, 1995 at 10:30 a.m. in the First Reformed Church of Sheldon, with Pastor Gary Roozeboom officiating. Burial followed at East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon under the direction of the Sheldon Funeral Services.

Esther Boone, daughter of Simon R. and Dena (Te Grotenhuis) Menning, was born on December 15, 1912 in Alton, Iowa. She lived her youth and attended a country school in Newkirk, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Edward A. Boone of Sheldon, Iowa on September 29, 1939 in Newkirk, Iowa. They lived on a farm southeast of Sheldon. In 1978 they retired and moved to Sheldon where they lived on 6th Street. Edward passed away in February of 1984. Esther later moved to the Christian Retirement Home in Sheldon. She was a member of the First Reformed Church of Sheldon where she was a pianist and active in various activities. Esther was always willing to volunteer her time to those in need. She also enjoyed crotchetting, sewing and reading.

Those left to cherish her memories are three sons and daughters-in-law, Arlan and Evelyn Boone of Sheldon, I A, Loren and Carol Boone of Freeport, IL, Rev. Verlyn and Suzan Boone of Wellsburg, IA; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Rich Molettiere of Omaha, NE, and Glenda and Don Van Otterloo of Sioux Center,IA; 17 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Marion Menning of Newkirk, IA, Virgil Menning of Sheldon, IA and Rev. Norman Menning of Rock Valley, IA; one step brother, Glen Salmon of Boyden, IA; four sisters, Mrs. Sam (Evelyn) Brink of Hospers, IA, Eunice Raak of Sioux Center, IA., Sylvia Hornsby of Galvenston, TX, and Mrs. Carroll (Arlene) Brown of Cedar Rapids, IA; two step sisters, Vickie Conroy and Mary Lou Smith of Michigan; and one sister-in-law, Christine Menning of Orange City. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, her parents, Simon and Dena Menning, one brother, Harold Menning, stepmother, Mary Menning, stepbrothers, Larry Salmon and Donald Salmon and step sister Dorthy Wermes.
