Salie, Tunis 1890 - 1918

TUNIS SALIE
Tunis Salie, first victim of the Influenza in this vicinity, died Wednesday morning, November 27th, at the home of his mother. Funeral services were held last Friday, on the porch of the home, at 2:00 o'clock. Rev. Karl Megchelsen officiating, and interment was made in the Boyden cemetery.

Tunis Salie, eldest son of Mrs. Cornelius Salie, of this town, was born on the 21st day of February, 1890, and passed away November 27th 1918, being 28 years and 9 months of age at the time of his death. His birthplace was on the Beyer farm three miles south of Boyden. He spent his entire life on the farm, living with his parents up until the past year when he farm the home place for himself. Deceased was a young man of sterling worth, and his loss to this community is keenly felt. He was an excellent farmer and always dependable.

He leaves to mourn his death, his mother, Mrs. C. Salie, three sisters, Mrs. L. Kleyne, Mrs. N. Kooiker, and Elizabeth Salie, and two brothers Cornelius and Datus, besides a host of other relatives and friends. Thefather ot the deceased, passed away about two years ago.
