Cornelius Salie.

After an illness of about two months duration, Mr. Cornelius Salie, quietly passed away at his home here, on the 18th day of April, at nine o'clock in the evening, at the age of 53 years. The funeral services were held last Saturday afternoon at the Reformed church, Rev. Van Lummel officiating, assisted by Rev. Megchelsen. Interment was made in the Boyden cemetery.

Cornelius Salie was born at Rotterdam, Netherland, on the 8th day of March, 1864. He came to this country about 28 years ago, and was married in 1889 to Miss Gertie [*Grietje] Smidt. To this union seven children were born, one a boy, passing away in infancy.

Those of the children who survive him, besides his loving wife are, Tunis, Jennie, Lena, Cornelius, Datus, and Elizabeth, all of them of Boyden. He also has a brother at Edgerton, Minn., and a brother and sister in the old country. His entire life in America, was spent in Sioux County, living on his farm east of town for the past ten years. At the time of his death he was a member of of the board of education of the Boyden School, and it is needless to say that he was a capable man. He was very amibitous, and during his life's toil had accumulated considerable wealth, which was done hard by labor and saving. Mr. Salie will be greatly missed in this community.

Among those from out of town who attended the funeral are: Mr and Mrs. R. Beckring of Kenneth, Minn.; Mrs. Henry Smidt and Mr. Tunis Salie of Edgerton, Minn., John Smidt of Woodstock, Minn., and Mrs. D. Roeloffs. The Reporter extends its heartfelt sympathy to the relatives and friends in their bereavement.
