Jan. 31, 1925-May 12, 2004

ARCHER--Annetta Van Dyke, 79, Archer, died Wednesday, May 12, at her residence. Services were Saturday, May 15, at United Methodist Church in Archer, wit the Rev. Doris Lindley officiating. Burial was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Primghar, under the direction of Sanborn Funeral Home.

Annetta Van Dyke, daughter of Gerrit and Winnie (Vanden Brink) Vanden Hul, was born Jan. 31, 1925, near Newkirk. She lived her youth near Hospers and received her education at a country school near there. Her mother died when she was 1 year old so she was raised by her father and worked along with him on the farm.

She married William J. Van Dyke in October 1946, in Askov, MN. She was a homemaker and had worked for a brief period for Archer Telephone Company. She worked diligently at a variety of farm-related jobs for her friends and family. She was a member of Archer United Methodist Church. Her special interests included tending to her flower and vegetable gardens, embroidery work, canning, fishing, camping, doing word puzzles and visiting with family and friends on the front porch.

Survivors include four daughters, Patsy and Scott Meile of Westminster, CO, twins, Joanne and Duane Heerde of Archer and Jeanne and David Meyer of Archer, and Marcia and Daryl Wassenaar of Sheldon; eight grandchildren; her special companion, Jim Snip of Archer; and a sister, Alice Muilenburg of Hartley. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Carol and Judy.
