VanDyke, Alberta, Mrs. Peter, 1877-1959

Mrs. Peter Van Dyke of Sheldon died Tuesday morning [April 14]. Funeral services will be held in the Bethel Reformed church at Sheldon at 2:00 Friday afternoon. She was the mother of the late Larry Van Dyke and mother of William Van Dyke of California and Henry Van Dyke of Lynden, Wash. Mrs. Jake Van Drie has been caring for her for the past few months.

Mr. and Mrs. Ted Kooima, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Bomgaars, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Bonthuis, Mrs. Lena Van Zee, Mr. and Mrs. John Vander Sanden, Mrs. Gerrit Harmelink and Mrs. Gys Kuyper were those from Rock Valley who attended the funeral of Mrs. Peter (Alberta) Van Dyke at the Bethel Ref. Church at Sheldon Friday afternoon. Mrs. Van Dyke was the mother of the late Larry and Henry Van Dyke, of Bill Van Dyke, Mrs. Bert Harmelink of Denver and of a Mrs. Susan Schofield. The Van Dykes lived here for a time and some of the children are well known here. Mrs. Van Dyke died Tuesday morning. Mrs. Jake Van Drie had been caring for her.

M P. Van Dyke passes away at home in Sheldon

M Peter Van Dyke, 81, passed away Tuesday, April 14, at the home of her son, Alvin, in Sheldon. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Bethel Reformed church in Sheldon. Rev. [-]. J. Vander Haar officiated at the services and burial was made in the East Lawn cemetery.

M Van Dyke was born June [-]0, 1877, in the Netherlands and came to the United States with her parents. They resided at [Harris?], S. Dak. After her marriage to Peter Van Dyke the couple resided in the Sioux Center, Ireton, Inwood, Rock Valley, and Sheldon communities. They also resided in Yakima, Wash., for several years.

Survivors include two daughters-- M Rena Harmelink of Denver, Colo., and M Susan Schofield of Lakeland, Fla., two sons--William of West Sacramento, Calif., and Alvin of Sheldon. Also surviving are twenty grandchildren and thirty-six great-grandchildren. M Van Dyke was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, and a daughter.
