GRACE BOER

Grace Boer, 75, of Sheldon, died May 14, 1992, atNorthwest Iowa Health Center at Sheldon. Grace was born July 2, 1916 at Ashton to Dee and Elizabeth (Vander Veen) Bosma. She lived her youth in the Sanbom and Hospers areas and received her education at the Sanbom Christian School.

She was united in marriage to Ike Boer on Feb. 2, 1939 at the home of her parents at Hospers. Most of their married life was spent farming in the Sanborn area, with the exception of a few years when they resided at Cloverdale and Sheldon. They moved to Sheldon in October of 1980. Mrs. Boer was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church of Sheldon and the Garden Hour Circle. She had served as a volunteer at Oak Park Care.

She is survived by her husband, Ike, her children, Peter and Nancy Boer of Elmhurst, Ill., Irvin and Thelma Boer of Denver, Colo., and Loretta and Ken Rowenhorst of Orange City; nine grandchildren;four brothers, Harry, Joe and Irwin Bosma, all of Hospers, and Ivan Bosma of Canajoharie, N.Y.; seven sisters, Sadie Vander Weide of Chino, Calif., Jeanette Bosch of Sheldon, Margaret Wallick of Buena Park, Calif., Ruth Crawford of LaPalma, Calif., Bette Pekelder of Sheldon, Sophie LaMasuier of Banning, Calif., and Lorraine Muilenburg of Sheldon.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Winnie Blom and Clara Roos. Memorial services were held May 18, 1992, at the First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon, Dr. P.Y. De Jong officiated. Burial preceded the services at Roseland Cemetery in Sanborn under direction of the Sanborn Funeral Home.
