Engelbert G. Gesink

Mr. Engelbert Gesink, age 73 of Orange City, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 1998 at the Orange City Municipal Hospital. Memorial service was held on Monday, August 3, 1998 at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinity Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Raymond Weiss officiated. Interment was prior to the service at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City was in charge of arrangements.

Engelbert, who was known as "Bert" was born December 15, 1924, at Orange City, the son of Gerrit and Bertha (Gesink) Gesink. He was raised in Orange City and served in the United States Army during World War II. On September 20, 1946, he married Arlene R. Beltman in Alton. They made their home in Orange City, where Bert was manager of Iowa Public Service for forty years. He retired in 1986. Mr. Gesink was a member of the Trinity Reformed Church, where he had served on the consistory as a deacon. He was also a twenty-year member of the Orange City Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Pressman-Kosters American Legion Post in Orange City.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Kary Gesink of Lincoln, Nebraska; two brothers, Harvey Gesink of Alton; and Elmer Gesink of Orange City; and a sister, Elizabeth Doppenberg of Orange City. He was preceded in death by a brother, Henry.
