Gerrett Gesink.

Gerrett "Gary" Gesink, 88, of Sioux Center died Sunday, Aug. 27, 1995 at the Sioux Center Community Health Center in Sioux Center. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 31 at Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center. Rev. John Witvliet officiated. Interment was in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Sioux Center.

Gerrett was born Oct. 11, 1906 to Henry and Johanna (Nyman) Gesink near Maurice. He graduated from the Sioux Center Christian School and later received certification as a tractor mechanic. He worked for John Deere and then Heemstra Meat Market, as well as Dordt College and Sioux Center Christian School.

He married Marie Madeline Mouw on Dec. 29, 1938 in Sioux Center. Except for one year in Green, Iowa, they spent their married life in Sioux Center. They were residents of the health center starting in 1988. Mrs. Gesink died in June of 1993.

Survivors include five children, Donald of Denver, Colo., Heddy Saxon of Denver, Colo., Paul of Baldwin City, Kan., Benjamin of London, Ontario, Canada, and Gary M. of Sioux Center; two sisters, Christine Gesink of Sioux Center and Bertha Triezenberg of Holland, Mich.; and 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothes, Bert, Henry and Christian; and three sisters, Minnie, Johanna and Harriet.
