April 9, 1926--December 6, 1998

Vera J. Taylor, 72, of Sioux Center died on Sunday, December 6, at the Sioux Center Community Hospital and Health Center. Funeral services were at the United Methodist Church in Ireton on Wednesday, December 9, with the Rev. Dean Shelly officiating.

Mrs. Taylor was born to Andrew and Alida (Berghuis) De Zeeuw on April 9, 1926, in Sioux Center. She married William H. Taylor in Sioux Center on June 1, 1946. Their married lives were lived as farmers in the rural Ireton area. William died on August 6, 1977. Mrs. Taylor was a member of the United Methodist Church in Ireton.

Survivors include four sons, Tom of Hudson, South Dakota, Doug and his wife, Evonne, of Sioux Center, Ward and his wife, Joane, of Ireton, and Wally of Sioux Center; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Esther Vermeer of Quincy, Washington, and Ruth and her husband, Jake De Jong, of Spirit Lake; three brothers, John and his wife, Ella, of Hull, Earl and his wife, Lila, of Orion, Illinois, and Roger of Sioux Falls; and a brother-in-law, Morry and his wife, Hillary, of Orange City. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister, Norma.

At her funeral, congregational hymns which were sung were "We Are Going Down the River" and "One Day at a Time." The organist was Celia Ten Napel. Casket bearers were Tom Taylor, Ward Taylor, Doug Taylor and Wally Taylor. Interment was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Ireton.
