Services Are Held For Mrs J. Brouwer – Rites Performed On Friday, September 25
Funeral services were held Friday at the First Christian Reformed church for Mrs. John
Brouwer, (nee Tracy Koopmans) who died at her home early Wednesday morning at the age of 64 years and 5 months. Rev. A Dusseljee conducted the services, and interment was made at the Orange City cemetery. Pallbearers were Henry Van Puersem, Merlin Rowenhorst, John W. Nibbelink, John Zevenbergen, John Jasper and Harry Kroeze. Mrs. Brouwer had been in failing health for the last half year, and death Wednesday was the result of a final heart attack.

She was born in the Netherlands and came to this country, and to Orange City, at the age of 23. In 1915 she was married to John Brouwer. Four children were born to them: Gertrude (Mrs. Ed Bouw) of Luverne, Nellie (Mrs. Joubert Wassenaar) and Melvin of Orange City, and John of Leota, Minn. Other survivors include six grandchildren, four sisters and two brothers: Mrs. Ed Vander Muelen of Ocheyedan, Mrs. Ben Nibbelink, Mrs. Ike Van Klotnpenburg, Jake Hoekstra of Orange City, Mrs. Bert Gesink of Denver, and Cornie Hoekstra of Boyden. One brother, Renze Koopmans, of the Netherlands, preceded her in death.
