Jack Grotenhuis, 27, of Tempe, Ariz., formerly of Sioux Center, died Friday of injuries suffered in a traffic accident in Tempe. Services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center. The Rev. John Hulst and Rev. Henry Vanden Heuvel officiated. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery under direction of the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home.

Mr. Grotenhuis was born Jan. 5, 1956, at Bellingham, Wash. He married Kathy Sanderse Aug. 2, 1979, at Sioux Center. He was a doctoral candidate in choral music at the Arizona State University of Music. He had received his masters degree in music at the University of Iowa in 1979 and had done undergraduate work at Dordt College in Sioux Center, graduating in 1978. He had taught at Lynden Christian High School in Lynden, Wash., for two years and had lived at Tempe since 1982. He had a teaching assistantship at Arizona State University and also conducted two church choirs in the Phoenix area.

Survivors include his wife; his parents, Dale and Eleanor Grotenhuis of Sioux Center; three brothers, Robert of Sioux City, Philip and Thomas, both of Sioux Center, and maternal grandparents, the Rev. and Mrs. Richard Veldman of Grand Rapids, Mich.
