Anna Smits, 82, of Maurice died Sunday, December 23, at Sioux Center Community Hospital. Services were at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 26, at First Reformed Church of Maurice with the Rev. Kenneth Westrate officiating. Burial was in Sherman Township Cemetery.

The former Anna De Jong was born March 18, 1908, in The Netherlands. She came to the United States with her family as a child. She married Theodore Smits January 31, 1929, at Maurice. The couple farmed at Ireton and Maurice until 1956, when they moved into Maurice. She was a member of First Reformed Church of Maurice and the Women's Guild.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Geraldine Klein of Sherman, South Dakota, and Dorothy Nibbelink of Sioux Center, two sons, John Smits of Maurice and Theodore, Jr. Smits of White Bear Lake, Minnesota; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
