Respected Former Resident Dies at Long Beach, Calif.
John P. Homan Was Lifelong Resident of Alton

John P. Homan, resident of the Alton community nearly all his life, died at a Long Beach, Calif. hospital Sunday morning, April 25th, following a heart attack, at the age of 64 years. Mr. and Mrs. Homan had returned to their home at Long Beach only a few weeks ago after a visit of several weeks with their sons in Sioux City and Alton and with their many friends in this vicinity.

Mr. Homan was born March 21, 1890 at Alton, where he lived until he moved to California about two and a half years ago. He engaged in farming, road and other work in this vicinity as long as his health permitted.

Surviving are his widow, Martha; a daughter, Mrs. Lorraine Shannon of Inglewood, Calif.; three sons, Robert of Long Beach, Francis C. of Alton and Alvin of Sioux City; three grandchildren; four brothers and three sisters, namely: Mrs. Rose (John) Van Deelen, Minneota, Minn., George Homan, Mrs. Emma Fath, both of Alton, Roman Homan, Waterloo; Mrs. Olive Baltes, Worthington, Minn.; Julius and O. N. Homan of Alton.

Funeral services will be held at an Inglewood, Calif. Catholic church this Thursday morning, with burial in the Catholic cemetery there. Requiem mass will also be held in St. Mary's chapel here for Mr. Homan, so long a faithful member of this parish and a valued neighbor and friend. The mass will be read by the Rev. Zeno Reising, pastor, at 8:15 a.m. this Thursday.

Mr. and Mrs. Francis C. (Dutch) Homan and Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Homan left Monday by car for Long Beach, but first motored to Storm Lake where they attended the funeral of their brother-in-law's mother, Mrs. Shannon. Kenneth Shannon residing at Inglewood, had come to Storm Lake for his mother's funeral, and accompanied the Homans to California.
