K. De Jong living near Maurice died Tuesday after a lingering illness of consumption at the age of thirty six. He leaves a wife and three children.

Although the death of Conrad G. De Jong had been mentioned in this paper, we wish to pay a last tribute to his memory; his cheerful, whole-hearted nature won him many friends, and the large crowd which came from near and far to attend hit funeral showed the respect each felt for him. Not only do the widow and children lose a loving husband and father, but the church loses a faithful member, the community a neighbor and friend; but our toss is his gain, for "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord." We wish to extend our sympathy to all the bereaved relatives but especially to her, who through all the trying months of the past, has so lovingly and faithfully performed the duties of wife.

(NOTE: This was Koenraad G. De Jong born 6 Nov 1868 Marion County IA died 8 Nov 1904 Maurice IA married 1893 to Dena Aalfs born 1872 died 1944. Their children were Anna 1872, Jennie 1898 and Garrett 1900-1986.)
