Mrs. Gerrit Vander Maaten, who has been ill for some time, died at her home south of town Saturday evening. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Reformed Church.

Her husband's obituary (Sioux Center News, Oct. 8, 1959) gives her name as Ella Vander Sluis. The Sioux County Cemetery Index gives her birth year as 1888.
