Hawarden Independent, July 21, 1938

Farrell Ward, 48 years old of Sioux City, died last Thursay night at the veterans hospital in Des Moines after an extended illness from diabetes. He had been confined to the hospital for nearly two months. He had resided in Sioux City since being discharged from the army in 1919. He is survived by a brother, John Ward of Clark, Neb. Burial was made in the veterans national cemetery at Rock Island, Ill.

Records here show that Farrell Ward was a resident of Hawarden at the time of the draft registration in 1917 and subsequently was called to service from Hawarden. It is believed that he was employed here for some time prior to the war.
