Marlys Bakker, age 62, of Hudson, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2001 at the Colonial Manor Nursing home at Hudson.

Funeral service was Monday at the Congregational United Church of Christ Church at Hudson. Burial was at Eden Cemetery of Hudson. The Rev. Elaine Miller officiated. Porter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Marlys Bakker was born Jan. 4,1939 at Dell Rapids, S.D. to Kermit and Julia (McDonald) Hoover. She married Simon Bakker on Nov. 13, 1954 at Hudson. They lived near Rock Rapids, before moving to a farm near Hudson. She worked
at K-Products at Canton, S.D.

Survivors include her husband Simon; three daughters, Karma Bakker of Akron, Elizabeth Hamilton of Hawarden and Diana Frieberg of Yankton; daughter-in-law Cindy Bakker of Sioux Falls; two sons, Tim of Hudson and Brian of
Sioux Falls; two brothers, Bill Hoover of Pitkin, La., and Bob Orcutt of Volga, S.D.; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother Nita; two sisters, Audrey Leiferman and Evon Drew; and infant daughter Julie.
