VANSURKSUM, EVERS, VANDERPOL, KOPPENDRAYER

Mr. William Van Surksum, 75, Hull, passed away Monday, Jan. 27, at the Sioux Center Community Hospital.

William was born Jan. 6, 1917 at Doon, the son of John and Mary (Koppendraayer) Van Surksum. By the age of 7 years, both of his parents had passed away, so he made his home with the Gerrit Van Surksum at Hull.

On April 23, 1941, he married Grace Evers at Perkins. She passed away Nov. 17, 1952, at Le Mars. On March 22, 1957, he married Johanna Carol Vander Pol at Hull.

“Billy” farmed at Perkins most of his life, moving to Hull in December, 1986.He was a lifetime member of the First Christian Reformed Church of Hull, where he had served on the consistory as a deacon. He had also been a member of the boards of directors of the Farmers Co-op service station and elevator.

Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Gloria, and her husband, Ken De Boer, of Macon, Missouri; Judy, and her husband, Don Miller, of Olathe, Kansas; Debra Raymond of Grand Rapids, Michigan; and Aretha, and her husband, Dave Snieder, of Hull; son, Bill, of Olathe, Kansas; 10 grandchildren, one great-granddaughter; brother, John, of Chino, California; and a sister, Johanna Van Batavia, of Hull In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 30, at the First Christian Reformed Church in Hull with the Rev.. Aldon Kuiper officiating. Interment followed at Hope cemetery in Hull under the direction of the Kraai-Oolman Funeral Home of Hull.
