Hawarden Independent, February 26, 1976

Francis Vogelzang, 70, formerly of Hawarden, died February 18 at Mitchell, South Dakota.

Services were at 10:00 a.m., February 21 in the Dow Funeral Home at Hawarden. The Rev. Herbert Gould officiated. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Vogelzang was born May 13, 1905, in Sioux County. He was graduated from Hawarden High School in 1923. He became a milk tester for the State of Washington, a job he held until retirement. After retirement, he moved to Mitchell.

Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Layfe Warner of Mitchell and Mrs. Melis Otten of Hinckley, Minn.

Those from out of town who attended the services were Mr. & Mrs. Layfe Warner of Mitchell, SD; Mr. & Mrs. Clancy Vogelzang and sons, Mike and Steve; Mr. & Mrs. Tim Vogelzang of Sioux City; Miss Elaine Vogelzang of Ridgewood, N.J., and Mr. & Mrs. Andrew Harmelink of Fairview, Iowa.
