On Monday evening at his home
two miles south of town occurred the
death of August Leuders one
Alton Democrat of April 30, 1904

Grant township's prosperous farmers Mr. Leuders had for several months been suffering with a complicated form of kidney disease and several
weeks ago went to Hot Springs South Dakota in hopes of obtaining relief but his fast failing strength gave warning that the end was near and
he was brought home Saturday where for two days the grim fight between life and death was waged before his soul crossed the great divide into that dark unknown from whence it said no traveler returns.
( August Leuders born 154 Germany married 14 Jul 187 Sioux county to Johanna Louisa Mell dau of Ludwig Mell and Karolina Steggman. August was a son of Wilhelm Leuders and Horathea Fhuetze. They were believe to have at least one son August and maybe more children)
