Funeral services for Raymond E. Grooters were held Monday, Sept. 25 at the First Reformed Church of Sanborn, Rev. Gerald Osland officiated.Burial was in Hope Cemetery in Hull.
Mr.Grooters passed away Friday, Sept. 22.

Mr. Grooters, the son of John and Maggie (Ver Steeg) Grooters, was born at Boyden on May 13, 1907. He lived his youth in the Boyden area and attended the Christian School at Boyden.He was united in marriage to Dena Van Surksum on Dec. 27, 1929. She passed away on Feb. 5, 1944. He was united in marriage to Mary Oostra at Rock Valley on Feb. 20, 1946. Ray and Mary lived their entire married life in the Sanborn area where he was engaged in farming until his retirement.

He is survived by his wife, Mary, his children: Leona and Jim Koele of Hull, Berdelland and Paul Remmele of Morton, Ill., Marlys and Brad Hofman of Sanborn and Dave Berggren of Kentwood, Mich.; 14 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; one brother, Lawrence Grooters of Pella, and two sisters: Jeanette Vanden Bosch of Fertile, and Lydia Smit of Redlands, California.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Delores Berggren, one granddaughter, Rhonda Koele, his wife, Dena, his parents, two brothers and one sister.

He was a member of the First Reformed Church at Sanborn and had served as an elder and deacon.
