The funeral of the late Mrs. Maria Magdalena Neuroth took place from St. Mary’s church at nine o’clock Monday morning and was largely attended. As was expected all the surviving children were in attendance, they being Mrs. Eva Kutenaker of Davenport, Christ and John of Haverhill, Peter B. and Peter K. and Adam of Beresford South Dakota and Nicholas and Anthony of Granville. Other relatives from a distance were Peter Schmidt and wife of Dell Rapids SD, Peter Eulberg of St. Paul and Misses Helen Arkenberg and Pearl Neurorth of Charlotte.

(Found an account on ancestry.com of the family indicating that Peter Neuroth born 24 Dec 1822 Dauback Hessen Nassau Germany died 3 Feb 1876 Springbrook Jackson Co. IA. Married 1845 to Maria Wilhelmina Neuroth born 2 Jan 1825 died 28 Apr 1904 Alton IA. She was the daughter of Nicolas Neuroth 1801 and Anna Maria Ferdinand 1800. Children were Katherine 1846, Eva 1847, Christian 1849, Christine 1850, John 1852, Adam 1859, Peter 1861, Anton 1863, Nicholas 1866 and John 1870. )

This is the obituary that was in the Alton paper a week previous.

Alton Democrat of April 30, 1904
Mrs. Mathelina Nueroth passed away at a little after nine o'clock
Thursday evening at the home of
her daughter Mrs. Adam Eulberg in this city at the age of seventy-five
years. For several months she had been in failing health hence the
family and friends were prepared for the final dissolution. The
funeral will be held from St. Mary's church Monday morning at nine
o'clock.
Deceased was born in Germany and was married to Nicholas Neuroth in
1845. They came to America in 1865 and settled in Iowa. Nine children
survive her, Mr. Neuroth having preceded her in death several years
ago.
The children are Anthony and Nicholas of Granville, Peter B. and Peter
K.. and Adam of Beresford South Dakota, Chris and John of Haverhill,
Mrs. Eva Kurtenacker of Davenport and Mrs. Adam Eulberg of Alton. It
is expected all will be here to attend the funeral.
