Thomas Albertus "Tom" Bonestroo, 64, of Hull, died of cancer on Wednesday, February 3, at his residence. Services were Saturday at First Reformed Church in Hull, with the Rev. Verlyn Boone officiating. Burial was at Hope Cemetery.

Bonestroo was born on April 10, 1934, in rural Hull, the son of Egbert Herman "Bert" and Wilhelmina "Minnie"(Korthals) Bonestroo, He was raised in Perkins.

He married Betty Ellen Oldenkamp on April 23, 1954, in Sheldon. He served in the U.S Army from 1954 to 1956, stationed in Hanau, Germany, for 18 months.

The couple lived in Sheldon, where he was a partner with his brother in the distributing business. In 1965, the Bonestroos moved to Hull, where he owned and operated Bonestroo Salvage in Perkins. In 1988, they moved to Perkins. In 1996 he retired and sold his business.

He was a member of First Reformed Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion Wegman-Koele Post 380, and a former member of Hull Volunteer Fire Department. He helped organize the Hull Community Softball League and was a player, manager and sponsor. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Survivors include his wife; three sons and their wives: Tom L. & Laura, Terry & Gayle, and Todd & Joanne, all of Hull; two daughters and their husbands, Lana & Roger Jacobsma and Kim & Tim Van Tilburg, all of Hull; 17 grandchildren; three brothers and their wives: Fred & Clara of Sheldon; Gerald & Gertrude of Hull, and Leonard & Henrietta of Boyden; a sister, Albertha Rozeboom of Sioux Falls; a brother-in-law, Gerald Oldenkamp of Sheldon; and five sisters-in-law, Anne Bonestroo; Agnes Bonestroo and Ellen Blom, all of Hull; Frances Oldenkamp of Doon and Judy Oldenkamp of Sheldon. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Egbert, Henry, Benjamin, Alvin and Edward in infancy; a sister-in-law, Nellie Bonestroo; two brothers-in-law, Herman Rozeboom and Sammy Oldenkamp, and his parents-in-law, Sam & Tillie Oldenkamp.
