Katherine Bogaard, 98, of Rock Valley died Thursday, May 3, at Avera McKennan hospital in Sioux Falls.

Services wee at 10 a.m., Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rock Valley with the Rev. Eugene Murray officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.

Mrs. Bogaard was born November 14, 1902, in Rock Valley, the daughter of James & Mary (Keegan) Lowery. She graduated from St. Mary's Academy. She married Cornelius Bogaard in 1929 in Chicago. The couple made their home in Rock Valley, where she was employed with Northwestern Bell Telephone for 10 years. Her husband died January 28, 1977. She entered Valley Manor in July 1997.

Survivors include two daughters, Elaine Keegan and Helen Qualls, both of Denver, Colorado; five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Donald "Patrick", and two sisters, Anna Mae Dorsey and Veronica Johnson.
