Bertha Van Surksum, 86, of Hull Died Saturday, January 27, at Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull.Services are at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 31, at the First Christian Reformed Church in Hull with the Rev. William Renkema officiating. Burial is in Hope Cemetery

The former Bertha Bouma was born June 23, 1903, at Hull. She married Gerrit Van Surksum January 30, 1924, at Hull. The couple farmed at Hull until 1960 when they retired into town. He died January 17, 1979, at Hull. She became a resident of Pleasant Acres in April 1987.
She was a lifetime member of First Christian Reformed Church where she was active in the Ladies Aid. She also was a member of the Christian School Circle.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, John and Jane Van Suksum of Hull; a son-in-law, Vernon and Joyce Vander Well of Hull; two brothers, John Bouma of Doon and Otto Bouma of Hull; four sisters, Della Krommendyk, Hattie Te Grotenhuis And Jeanette Van Beek, all of Sioux Center, and Gertrude Moss of Rock Valley; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
